The most popular styles Until the 1960s, hats were part of every gentleman's standard outfit. After a brief downturn in hat fashion, headwear has found its way back onto men’s heads - in a wide variety of shapes and colours.

Nowadays, it is not only men’s hats, but also men's caps and men’s beanies that characterise everyday outfits and serve as stylish fashion accessories. At the same time, it is no longer just a cap that is worn with a sporty look, but can also be a pork pie hat or bucket hat, for example. The possible combinations are almost endless.

Men’s hats

The felt hat is one of the absolute classics. These are often found in the form of cowboy hats or traveller hats. The favourable properties of felt make it a weatherproof outdoor hat (UV protection, water-resistant, crushable).

For sunny and warm days in summer, airy straw hats are an extremely popular type of hat - as a trilby, traveller or Panama hat made from high-quality Panama straw.

It is not uncommon for popular hat shapes to be made famous by famous personalities: Al Capone's henchmen, for example, wore a cool bogart hat (fedora) and the round bowler hat was Charlie Chaplin’s trademark. Even today, both the Italian-inspired and the English hat are very popular with suits.

Pork pies (also known as jazz or musician's hats) are extremely popular with the younger generation. Its flat, round shape with a curved, narrow brim gives the men’s hat a unique look - ideal for spicing up plain outfits.

Men’s beanies and peaked caps

Probably the most popular headwear for men with an elegant style is the classic peaked cap. It is also known as a newsboy cap, Gatsby cap or flat cap. Traditionally, the classic flat cap is made of wool, corduroy or tweed and has a stylish chequered or herringbone pattern.

If you look at sporty and modern looks, it quickly becomes clear that the beanie is absolutely on trend. There are many different variations - a thin long beanie (oversize), a solid envelope beanie or a short docker hat.

Another popular model is one that is no longer the exclusive preserve of the French: the beret. Worn slightly askew, the French men’s hat with a tip can freshen up the style.

Herrencaps

When it comes to popular men’s caps, baseball caps are a must. The cap made famous by American baseball usually has a curved brim and an adjustable strap. It is called a snapback if it has a snap fastener and a strapback if it has a metal buckle or Velcro fastener.

Another summer favourite is the trucker cap, which has a mesh at the back to allow air to pass through. They are often two-tone, as the mesh and the crown are usually different colours.

Army caps offer a completely different style. These military style caps have a flattened crown, similar to a tin can, and usually have eyelets on the side. The distinctive shape, often with an interesting camouflage look, can be worn beautifully with solid colours.

Which accessory will suit me?

After the many recommendations, there is one more important factor in making the right choice: individual style. This includes not only personal taste, but also which hat suits the corresponding head shape and size.

Finding the right size

Whether it’s a hat, beanie or cap, the first step to finding the right size is to measure the circumference of your head. Detailed instructions, including a size chart, can be found in our service area. The head size determined in this way then simply needs to be compared with the circumference of the headwear specified on the respective product page.

The sizes S, M, L, XL and XXL are specified with exact centimetre measurements and can be selected accordingly. However, some products are only available in one size. In this case, a size range is specified within which the headwear can be adjusted using a fastener or stretch band (e.g. Flexfit, snapback, strapback). You can even find oversized hats in our shop.

Select to match the head shape

The question of whether a particular hat suits someone can often be answered by looking at the shape of their face. We differentiate between the following shapes: oval, square, round and heart-shaped. Basically, care should be taken to always keep the overall shape in balance. This means, for example: A man with a round face should balance it out with distinctive and angular men’s hats.

Show your true colours

In the final step, it’s worth taking a look in your wardrobe to colour-coordinate the desired headgear or accessory with your own wardrobe. If you’re not quite sure, the following basic rule might help:
