V. Fraas can now look back on more than 100 years of tradition and is already in the fourth generation of the Fraas family. The company was founded in 1890 by Valentin Fraas in the small Franconian town of Wüstenselbitz, which has a long textile tradition. It produced neckerchiefs, headscarves and shawls from fine materials. Just 14 years later, his son Christian Fraas took over the business and went on to employ 100 people. In the mid-20th century, Christian’s son Arthur Fraas used the economic boom of the 1950s to drive expansion by establishing the company’s first international contacts. In 1980, Dr Robert Schmidt, Arthur Fraas’s son-in-law, took over and established branches in New York, Hong Kong and London. A major success followed in 1985 with the launch of Cashmink®, whose cashmere-like acrylic scarf quickly became a bestseller.

Today, Fraas is known for its exclusive quality and beautiful, innovative designs for scarves, wraps and ponchos. The company now has its own shop in the fashion capital Berlin and employs 600 people across 25 locations worldwide – and this is far from the end of its journey. Its guiding principle of blending traditional craftsmanship with continually reinvented patterns, colours and shapes in a whirl of creativity will continue to captivate lovers of high-quality, stylish scarves for years to come.
