What is a Confederate cap? The Confederate cap is a headwear worn by the Confederates during the Civil War. For this purpose, a wide-brimmed felt hat called the „campaign hat“ was introduced in 1858, but it did not become universally adopted. Instead, a cap called the "forage cap" was worn in the field.
