Nelson Hat
What is a Nelson hat? The Nelson hat is a bicorne hat that can be worn both transversely and longitudinally on the head. In the first case, the peaks point to the left and right. When worn longitudinally, the peaks are oriented towards the front and back. The hat is named after its wearer, Lord Nelson, also known as Admiral Nelson.
The history of the bicorne hat dates back to the 15th century when it became established in the hat fashion of the time. However, the term "Nelson hat" gained prominence only towards the end of the 18th and the beginning of the 19th century. Nelson was a British admiral who later commanded several ships as a captain. In modern times, the Nelson hat is no longer worn.
