Scout Hat

What is a scout hat? The scout hat is a wide-brimmed outdoor hat made of felt, similar to the ones worn by North American trackers. It is part of the classic scout uniform. Made of brown wool felt, it is sturdy and durable. Its brim serves as protection from the sun and rain.
The history of the hat begins with the history of the scouting movement and the first scout camp on Brownsea Island in the south of Great Britain. The hat model was introduced in 1907 as part of the uniform in the educational and valuable scout handbook "Scouting for Boys" written by Baden-Powell.
