What is herringbone? Herringbone is the English term for fishtail and describes a specific weaving pattern in the textile industry. Through a weaving technique, a fine zigzag pattern is created, resembling multiple adjacent fishtails. Traditionally, the herringbone pattern is used to produce clothing made from tweed. Additionally, the pattern is very durable due to its alternating stroke direction.
