Jersey

What is jersey? Jersey is a supple, elastic knitted fabric made from viscose, wool, cotton, silk, or their blends. The material is characterised by its lightweight ribbed structure, high stretchability, and low tendency to wrinkle. Unlike woven fabrics, where threads are crossed during production, jersey consists of interlocking loops (stitches) that give the fabric its elastic appearance. This creates a closed surface that provides the material warmth. Initially used only for underwear, jersey is now also used in the production of items such as headwear.
