What is appretur? The term "Appretur" comes from French and means "equipment" and aims to enhance fibres, fabrics, and textiles for a "like-new effect". Appretur can be done either mechanically during manufacturing or applied manually as needed.

Depending on the process, Appretur can make the fabric appear shinier or strengthen the weave and protect against dirt. For example, for outdoor clothing that withstands wind and weather, impregnation is required. However, the water-repellent effect achieved by this method is only limited and needs to be reapplied at regular intervals.
