What is a 59Fifty cap?

It is the best known model design of the brand New Era and has been an established classic in hip-hop for decades. The 59Fifty cap, or 5950, is a baseball cap and always features various logos of American sports teams such as the Chicago Bulls or New York Yankees. New Era first launched the cap on the market in 1954 and even then it stood for the values of quality and identity. With it, the brand achieved its economic breakthrough.

Let’s start with a statement that might leave some open-mouthed: The 59Fifty is not a snapback! Because "snapback" is simply the term for the adjustable fastener of a cap. A 5950, on the other hand, is a fitted cap, which means that it is not adjustable, but must be closed at the back and thus bought to fit. It has a flat brim and the crown is reinforced with buckram. Meanwhile, in contrast to the regular high crown, there are also 5950 caps with low profiles.
