What is a Gatsby Cap? The Gatsby Cap is a modified form of the newsboy cap. It acquired its name from the world-famous movie The Great Gatsby - a film where everything appears lavish and elegant, and in the midst of it, Robert Redford is seen wearing a newsboy cap.

The headpiece, with its slightly pie-shaped appearance created by the panels, resembles that of the flat cap, with the brim sewn firmly to the front-extending cap fabric, seamlessly merging the crown and brim. While the cap worn on screen is noticeably more voluminous and has a button on top, newer models are cut slimmer and less frequently equipped with the decorative button.

Not only in movies, but the Gatsby Cap, a variant of the flat cap, is also a real eye-catcher on the streets. Other synonyms for the cap include "Newsboy" or "Bakerboy," as newspaper boys and other young men with this cap-shaped the streets of the USA and Europe around the turn of the century.
