Hairnet
What is a hairnet? A hairnet is a loosely woven head covering used for the fixation of long hair. In earlier centuries, the nets were made from real hair and often had a bag-like shape, but later, elastic knitted or crocheted fabric became more common. In some professions, such as cooking or medicine, wearing a synthetic hairnet or another type of cap is required for hygienic or medical reasons. Even in the military, there was a temporary regulation known as the "hairnet decree" in 1971/1972 to accommodate conscripts with long hair. In the fashion world, this net-like cap serves a decorative purpose, as it is neither particularly warm nor shade-providing. Famous wearers made the net hair, known under the English term Nethair, their trademark, thus popularising this highly breathable cap.
How to put on a hairnet? First, the hair is secured on the head with ties or clips into a bun, ponytail, or other hairstyles that keep the hair together. Then, the hairnet can be pulled over. With wigs, a hairnet is usually used first to store the natural hair, so it is not visible when wearing the wig. The natural hair must lie as close to the head as possible. It is advisable to twist the hair into a loose, tube-shaped ponytail and secure it with hair clips at the hairline.
