Moleskin

What is moleskin? Moleskin, also known as English leather or pilot cloth, is a robust cotton fabric with a suede-like appearance. The fabric is woven using the satin weave, which is one of the three basic weaving techniques. Typical of this weave is that the right side shines while the left side has a matte appearance. To achieve the velvety surface of moleskin fabric, one of the two sides is brushed after weaving.

The fabric lives up to its English name, "Moleskin," which translates to mole's skin, with its warming and durable properties. Due to its heavy and dense quality, the cotton fabric is particularly suitable for hard-wearing work clothing, as well as many other textiles, such as headwear. A hat or cap made of moleskin reliably protects against wind and rain and provides a comfortably warm feeling when worn on the head.
