Terry Cloth

What is terry cloth? Characteristic of this fabric are the fine loops and nubs that form on the surface due to an additional loosely woven thread.
However, terry cloth should not be confused with the higher-quality and more stable terry fabric. While terry cloth is made with a single weft yarn, terry fabric is woven with two warp systems. Visually, terry cloth has a finer surface and usually exhibits a velvety texture. In the fashion world, this material is known as "Nicky" or "Nicki."
Terry fabric, on the other hand, has a coarser surface and excels in its absorbent properties and soft feel. The fabric is usually processed into home textiles (e.g., towels).
Before first use, terry fabric bath textiles should be washed at 60 degrees with a mild detergent to compact the surface and increase water absorption.
