What is Toyo? Toyo straw is the term for paper straw made from viscose. In contrast to naturally grown straw stems and straws, cellulose, or wood, is used as the raw material here and processed to the desired consistency. In the so-called melting process, the negative properties of straw and paper can be minimised. Therefore, Toyo paper straw is more elastic, suppler, and less susceptible to water damage than the two materials it is named after. Another advantage is that hats or other products made from this material are significantly cheaper than those made from natural straw, as the extraction and processing of natural straw are much more complex.
