Origin of the pork pie

The charming hat shape originated in the mid 19th century. It was made particularly famous in the 1920s by the US actor and film director Buster Keaton, one of the most successful comedians of the silent film era, also known as "The Great Stoneface" or "The Man Who Never Laughed", who made the pork pie hat his trademark. During the Second World War, the pork pie’s popularity declined somewhat before the hat shape revived in the jazz and blues scene. Recently, the hat has regained popularity, especially through popular TV and streaming series.
