The term "suede" is colloquially used for roughened leather, which can come from different types of animals. Suede is
often made from the hides of domestically bred animals, as leather from wild animals is scarce and therefore very
expensive.
The development of suede usage
Suede was used to make clothing and tarpaulins in the earliest beginnings of human history. In the beginning, it was
mainly about the use of leftover hides and skins from the hunt, but later developed into a significant craft which
continues to this day.
Properties:
Suede is characterised by its high quality and special appearance, which justifies its often higher cost. Suitable
leather care will improve the longevity of your item to ensure you will have your favourite leather piece for a very
long time to come. The high quality natural material protects against the cold and is very robust. Furthermore, it wicks
away sweat and absorbs the associated unpleasant odours. This can, on the other hand, lead to higher susceptibility to
soiling, which is due to the rough surface and can be problematic. However, special cleaning brushes ensure that dirt
can be removed efficiently and precisely.
Care tips:
As suede cannot tolerate wetness, we recommend regularly impregnating the leather to repel water. Take care to spray from
20 to 30 cm away so as to avoid leaving spots on the suede. Regular leather care can be carried out using a special
suede brush, which we also sell in our shop. This removes dry dirt and dust, while simultaneously roughening the surface
to maintain the material's unique, stylish surface. Do not wet clean the suede, as this will damage it and could make
stains even more apparent. Brushing too frequently is also not advised, as this can wear out the material.
Conclusion:
Suede is a high quality and elegant material that requires regular care. Due to its inherent protection against the cold,
it is an ideal choice for cold days but can also be worn in the summer thanks to its sweat-regulating properties. The
special structure of the suede requires regular care, although impregnation and brushing is fairly easy to do. Suede is
comfortable to wear and impresses with its unique appearance.
